Thu May 10, 2012 3:00am EDT Shares of Thai Airways International Pcl hit their lowest in almost two weeks on Thursday after brokers lowered the full year earnings outlook even though the carrier is expected to return to profit in the first quarter. At the mid session break of 0530 GMT, Thai Airways shares were down 0.9 percent at 26.75 baht ($0.86), falling at one point to 26.25 baht ($0.84), the lowest since April 27.
UPDATE 2-Google plans stock split; results spur relief

Investors welcomed the first quarter revenue of $8.15 billion after the company’s rare miss in the previous quarter.
STOCKS NEWS THAILAND-Thai banks fall but Citi upbeat on earnings
Tue Apr 10, 2012 1:48am EDT Shares in Thai banks fell 2 percent to a three-week low as investors took profits in a holiday shortened trading week, though they were supported after Citigroup said banks would post strong earnings in the first quarter on growth in loans and lower taxes. Citi echoed other brokerages that have predicted companies such as Bangkok Bank Pcl, Siam Commercial Bank Pcl and Kasikornbank Pcl will deliver solid results when they report later this month as the country’s economy picks up.

Sun Mar 25, 2012 9:39pm EDT Singapore banks are well placed to win regional market share and re-price assets as peers battle increasingly tight conditions, with the city-state seen as the best-funded banking system in the region, Barclays Capital said. “Given our cautious view of banks around the region, we would rank the Singapore lenders amongst our preferred exposures in a regional portfolio,” Barclays said in a report. It set an overweight rating on Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp and ranked it as its top pick among local banks, with United Overseas Bank Ltd coming in second with an overweight recommendation

Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:16am EDT Corporate results in Asia-Pacific excluding Japan have been “good enough” to make a difference between a market correction and mere consolidation, Nomura analysts said, highlighting upgrades in 2012 consensus profit estimates. “The single-biggest beat by country has been in Singapore, for which aggregate net income exceeded consensus by no less than 50 percent, mostly due to big beats from local property developers (although actual year-on-year net income growth market-wide was unspectacular at -1 percent),” Nomura said.
